We received a call from Șișterea: a small female dog had given birth in a woodshed about 2–3 weeks ago. Naturally, the mother was protecting her puppies fiercely, not letting anyone near. Locals were afraid of her. Although our shelter has been overcrowded for a long time, we went and brought them to safety.

Now we have a dachshund-sized mama and her 4 puppies, about 3 weeks old, all incredibly sweet and loving.

But this story highlights the real problem: one unspayed dog = 5 new dogs in an already overcrowded shelter.

When will people finally understand? Spaying saves lives.
