Another abandoned dog. Another example of how indifference has become the norm. A few days ago, we received a report from Șișterea about a female German Shepherd with a collar wandering the area. Around her were three puppies, and a fourth one – much smaller – who had probably just joined them and wasn’t even hers.

What did we do? We went there. We caught them. Then came the microchip check. Surprise – she had one! But, of course, it wasn’t registered. Why would it be, right? We notified the Animal Police and the Veterinary Authority, hoping the “responsible” owner who abandoned these dogs will finally be identified and held accountable.

For now, we’re waiting for an answer, hoping it won’t all end in silence. In the meantime, the mother has been sterilized, dewormed, and vaccinated. The puppies too – dewormed, vaccinated, and ready for a new chance at life. Small but vital steps, without which these souls would have been lost.

But the bigger picture is even more painful.
What we see every day is complete indifference. Nothing changes.
No matter how much we work, rescue, or sterilize, people simply refuse to learn.

For more than ten years, sterilization and microchipping have been mandatory by law.
So how is it possible that almost every dog arriving at our shelter is unsterilized, most without a chip, and even when they have one, it’s unregistered?
This isn’t the exception – it’s the rule. And it’s shameful.

Authorities don’t do their job: they don’t check compliance with the law, they don’t promote sterilization or microchipping enough. They don’t prevent abandonment. They prefer to spend public money on continuous killing. Why is that?
