Our shelter’s activity has been suspended. We are fighting to continue - 2026-05-20

At the end of March, our shelter was inspected by representatives of DSVSA Arad. Following the inspection, it was concluded that the current structure of our shelter does not fully comply with the regulations in force, despite the clear fact that our dogs are well cared for, healthy, and living in good conditions.

The main reason for the suspension of our activity is that most of our kennels are not concreted according to the current requirements. Unfortunately, until this issue is fully resolved, the activity of our shelter remains blocked.

This means that:

  • we can no longer take in dogs,
  • we can no longer participate in rescue operations,
  • we can no longer organize spay and neuter campaigns.

At the moment, only adoptions can continue.

Several weeks have already passed since that extremely difficult day, but we have not stood still. We began the necessary work to reorganize and rebuild the shelter, trying to adapt everything according to the imposed requirements.

Meanwhile, calls for help continue to come in every single day. Desperate people contact us about abandoned, injured, or endangered dogs, and we now find ourselves in the heartbreaking position of having to refuse cases that we once would have accepted without hesitation. We know very well that many of these dogs will be left alone, with little to no real chance of rescue.

That is exactly why we cannot allow ourselves to give up. We cannot stop. For them, we must continue, no matter how difficult it becomes.

So far, we have managed:

  • to build new solid shaded areas for our elderly dogs, with the help and support of our friends from Switzerland. Our deepest gratitude goes to the members of Animal Horizon, who donated more than 5000 RON for this project ❤️
  • to purchase new drainage channels and begin preparing the ground for installation
  • to dig the holes for the new support poles in the kennels that are being transformed
  • to purchase metal poles and part of the fencing materials
  • to begin deepening the gravel surfaces in the kennels to make room for the concrete and metal structure, as well as the proper slope needed for water drainage

We are already physically, mentally, and financially exhausted. But we know we are still far from the finish line, and stopping now is not an option.

The amount spent so far on materials and on work that we could not carry out ourselves has already reached 17,500 RON, and the costs continue to rise. That is why we still desperately need donations in order to move forward.

We know it may be exhausting to keep seeing appeals for help. And for us, it is difficult to ask. But we are not asking for ourselves.

We are asking for the dogs who depend entirely on this shelter.
For those who can still be saved.
For those who have no one else.

We would also like to sincerely thank ITV Grenzenlos for their support, both financially and emotionally. We are deeply grateful for the fact that month after month, year after year, they help so many of our dogs find loving families and wonderful homes. In addition, they have supported many of our spay and neuter programs over the years, and they are already looking forward to helping us organize new campaigns once our activity can fully resume.
